RECORD-BREAKING BY LEBANESE STAMP SET

A rare piece of Lebanese philatelie has set a new benchmark, achieving the highest price ever recorded for a Lebanese philatelic set of stamps. These are the famous five sheets of the stamps of the 1943 Medical Conference in Beirut unperforated and without Arab overprint “المؤتمر الطبي العربي السادس 1944“ [Sixth Arab Medical Conference 1944] recorded by Yvert as n 187e and 188d for postage. n. 82b, 83b and 84c for Air stamps.

The remarkable item had previously been offered in the 31st Cedarstamps Auction, held in December 2021, where it attracted considerable attention among collectors and philatelic enthusiasts. But in 2021 was no time for these prices. Only now, after more of five years, the transaction was successfully concluded arranged through a private treaty.
The lucky buyer requested a committee of experts to certify the sheets, which took place in Paris in the private office of the famous Roumet firm where the owner, Mr. Gwenël Roumet, Mr. Pascal Scheller, a well-known philatelic expert, and Mr. Bernardo Longo, a philatelic expert and owner of Cedarstamps, were present together with the famous sheets comfortably placed on the office table.

While details of the transaction remain confidential, the sale represents a significant milestone for Lebanese philately and highlights the enduring appeal of rare and historically Lebanese important postal artifacts.
Congratulations are extended to the new owner of this extraordinary items, which now joins one of the most distinguished private collections of Lebanese philately jewel.
