Did you know?
On June 2011, Libanpost put into circulation a stamp to honor President Sleiman Frangieh, nearly 40 years after the end of his mandate!
Mr. FRANGIEH was Lebanon’s president from 22 September 1970 till 22 September 1976.
Sleiman Frangieh’s Presidential portrait, 1970.
But President Frangieh didn’t have to wait so long to appear on a stamp.
Indeed in 1972, Ras Al Khaima, one of the Trucial States, issued an airmail sheet in memory of General De Gaulle (1890-1970).
This sheet depicts the armored vehicle that escorted the corps to the cemetery at Colombey-les-Deux-Eglises and on its background, shows pictures from the official ceremony outside Notre Dame de Paris. Eighty head of states attended this ceremony, among them President Frangieh.

But President Frangieh was not the only Lebanese president to have his portrait on a foreign stamp. Mr. Camille Chamoun, President of Lebanon from 1952 till 1958, shared this privilege too.
Stamp printed by Brasil in 1954 honoring Chamoun’s visit.
Closer to us, President Emile Lahoud, whose mandate went from November 1998 to November 2007 had his foreign issue stamp too. Liberia issued on 12/11/ 2000 a stamp collection of chiefs of states and leaders of the world in which President Lahoud appears but ironically as Prime Minister of Lebanon!!!
This stamp is legally quoted in the different catalogs. I’ve seen it for sale on Ebay for 30 USD. Many thick Epreuve Deluxe, proofs are circulating in different auctions but these items should more be considered as oddities as they are not mentioned in any catalog and cannot be authenticated.
